I didnt know where to put this... no system is made known yet so SG if you find a place for this move it. this is what i have picked up. Dirge of Cerberus Story Not much is known about the story so far, but this is what Square Enix has made official. Dirge of Cerberus begins with the sudden appearance of a mysterious group raiding local towns. They are known as the Deep Ground Soldiers (DG Soldiers), a band of warriors driven to hide underground because of the disastrous Meteor. Our hero, Vincent Valentine, is somehow connected with these events, yet in what way remains unclear. And when the world is veiled in darkness, it is his revolver that will ring out the dirge ... sry about the multi posts but look Among the many Compilation of Final Fantasy VII projects currently in the works (Crisis Core, Advent Children, etc.), one of the most interesting projects is Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus, which continues the theme of exploring every avenue of Square's incredibly popular seventh episode. Focusing on the vampiric Vincent Valentine (Cloud's enigmatic ally from the original Final Fantasy VII), Dirge of Cerberus is an action game that's part Devil May Cry and part third-person brawler. While the CG cutscenes (as is Square-Enix's forte) are absolutely stunning, the Yoshinori Kitase (Final Fantasy V, VI, VII, VIII, X) produced action game looks somewhat mediocre in spots. Originally planned as a first-person shooter, Dirge now resides comfortably in the third-person. Vincent blazes through each level, crumpling bad guys at every turn thanks to the helpful auto-targeting that makes the game feel like a third-person Metroid Prime. While this helps players who aren't particularly good at games like this, and helps solve the crappy 'feel' of the Dual-Shock's analog response (the game is for PS2 only), veteran players will no doubt have issues with the almost Time Crisis like feel of the game. In the moments when one must slip into sniper-mode in order to cap a marksman shooting at you from a belfry a hundred meters away, the auto-targeting takes some of the urgency away and will surely irritate FPS veterans.
There are instances where Vincent must engage in hand-to-hand combat, and while the actual feel of the melee is sub-Ninja Gaiden/Devil May Cry, it's sufficient with punches and kicks coming easily enough to keep enemies at bay.
The biggest problem with Dirge of Cerberus at its current level of completion, is that the overall feel and polish aren't on par with Square's usually high standards. Everything moves at a nice framerate, and Vincent looks cool enough, but the aging PS2 hardware is really starting to show its legs, especially in light of the increasingly sophisticated CG movies gracing every one of Square's projects. A look at the opening movie to Dirge will have gamers eager to have a crack at the game, but the disparity between CG and in-game is enough to shake you back into reality. Visuals aside, the gameplay is pretty standard, and if not for the distinctive FFVII trappings, could easily be mistaken for a game on par with, say, the most recent Syphon Filter.
There are a few twists revealed that give the game some potential, though. The first is the ability for Vincent to transform into a werewolf, limit-break style, during which time the game goes all Altered Beast/Bloody Roar, allowing our hero to whup Shinra asses with claws out. Unfortunately, the werewolf bits look a little goofy, and could stand to add a few animations, since Vince is a bit of a stiff in the animation department.
The second feature of note is the inclusion of online play, which is currently slated to support eight players in deathmatch games (although more modes are likely planned). From the demonstrations we saw, though, it looks like the single-player game's issues will carry over into the multiplayer -- namely, auto-targeting takes the skill out of the fight (especially when you're sniping a sniper, it turns into a battle of who can auto-target who the fastest). Watching players climb up a ladder slowly, to get away from their pursuers, only to see them get smoked while climbing the ladder, doesn't bode well for the online play. We'll see how it shapes up, but right now it looks sub-sub-sub-SOCOM.
Not bad overall, but perhaps not as good as we've been hoping for a game that's been in the works for over two years. Dirge of Cerberus most definitely deserves the tag of "work in progress." Luckily there's a good deal of time between now and the game's winter release date, and we'll have more thoughts on this as we grab more play time, but for the time being this game is a mixed bag at best.

Prepare to return to the world of Square Enix's most successful role-playing game of all time—Final Fantasy VII. Dirge of Cerberus picks up three years after FFVII's ending (which is a full year after the events of the upcoming Advent Children CG-animated movie, if you're keeping track), as the surviving citizens continue to rebuild after the cataclysmic confrontation between Cloud's party, Sephiroth, and that titanic meteor. Reconstruction halts, however, when a group of renegade troops known as the "Deep Ground Soldiers" emerges from beneath the planet's surface to wreak havoc. FFVII's mysterious vampiric antihero, Vincent Valentine, rises to the occasion to face these strange new foes. Why Vincent? It's simple: Cerberus is a shooter, so it requires a hero who deals in lead. (Spiky-haired FFVII poster-boy Cloud fights exclusively with a sword.) Concrete details on Cerberus' gameplay remain nebulous, but it's definitely not an RPG—expect a full-on action experience blending first-person shooting and Metal Gear Solid-style stealth elements. While that might have uncoordinated role-playing grandpas (a real gaming sect, honest) waving their fists in protest, the genre shift could create legions of new FF converts.
